Happy Valentine's Day, or not.

Isn't there a Saint Valentine? Why is it that most of the holidays were taken over by Catholics? Sorry for sounding like a bigot here, but seriously... St. Valentine, St. Patrick, St. Nicholas, All Saints' Day... Now, don't get me wrong. They certainly know how to party. Take over a pagan holiday and give it a patron saint, and you have a great time on your hands, but I really have trouble taking anything seriously that I have this sort of a line of thinking towards. So, sorry Santa, but I prefer my nativity... and Hallmark, not to dis your holiday, but Valentine must have had a vice. I think that vice was either greed or gluttony, I can't be certain which.

But, at any rate... My husband did something sweet for me in his own way... A throwback gift, and no, I am not going to share, it was for me. Mine mine mine.

And I did Valentine's as only I can... I stole sweet snacks from work and gave them to Tim. He loves chocolate covered strawberries. Ah, the perks of working. I like that the P.T.A. moms who don't work did all the dipping, and labor for me, so that I could mooch off their hard work. Oh what a terrible wife I am. Or maybe I'm just jaded. But hey! At least my son got animal crackers out of the deal! I may not have baked a lick this year, but somehow, we ended up with more sweets than we can eat. Maybe that's why I don't bake on Hallmark's day.
We also got Tim a bicycle to celebrate my birthday. I think I have gotten all my presents already, but I won't celebrate for another week or two. It's o.k. Though birthdays have gotten better since my husband, I still don't expect much of a fuss. I just enjoy my family. My parents have gone crazy this passed year. While I don't recommend near death to anyone, I must say that it seems to have its perks. My parents definitely went into some sort of compensatory mode. Not that everyone doesn't cherish me anyway since I am such a wonderful person, but I will never be able to adequately pay them back. They have given me, and my family, so much. My mom said something ridiculous about never being able to pay back parents. I have vowed to have more beautiful babies so that they can enjoy fun grandchildren. I hope they appreciate the pain which that entails.

It won't pay anything back, but I can delude myself into thinking that it makes up for the way cool racing bike. I love my Lemond. And I haven't fallen yet!

So, it's been a while since I have written, mostly because when you get into the rhythm of working, and life, you forget to do fun things, and to breath, and stuff. Come what may, thank God I wasn't gifted with being too serious. I love to play too much for anyone's good. My poor posterity.

Oh, and you can thanks me later for the view of Tim's rear end.

...I'm having issues commenting, so if this is a double, erase it. ;)
What I said was, I miss and heart you! I miss the rants about holidays. I can't wait for the St. Patrick's one. We should just come up with some LDS ones, since the Catholics can do it! Hmmm...Happy Ammon Day! -akin to halloween in sorts...the arms...nevermind.
I miss you and your constant push against anything commercialized. :) Happy ST. Valentine's day! (the little Mac helmet is soo cute!)
